How The Food Industry Is Making Us Sick 😳

I’m not sharing this pic to make anyone feel bad. I’m sharing this picture to bring awareness to what’s going on around you in the food manufacturing business. Stop and rethink what you’re putting into your body. As a certified Primal Health Coach & Keto Coach I feel like it’s my duty to make you aware of why we are getting sicker and sicker and sicker.

Processed Foods & Sugar & Chemicals.

Our bodies were not made to process chemicals day in and day out. It’s slowly killing us. Do you take pharmaceutical meds? Do you know why you go back to the doctor every 3-6 months to get blood work done? It’s not to see if such med is “working”. It’s to see if your organs are shutting down from said med. If there has been any sort of decline in your numbers such as liver or kidney function, your doctor will switch medications. 😳 Do you realize that?

Processed foods are filled with sugar and high fructose corn syrup. The empty calories that they bare aren’t even the concern. It’s the insulin response in the body. Insulin resistance over the years is what is causing the high triglycerides, harmful cholesterol levels, the increase in non-alcoholics fatty liver disease, and excess abdominal fat. Although you may not “add sugar” to your morning coffee and breakfast cereals, you may be getting copious amounts of it just from some of the foods and drinks you eat and not even realizing how much sugar is actually in there. Orange juice for instance. Manufacturers pasteurize commercially sold orange juice which means they cook the juice and destroy the nutrients in it. IT’S SUGAR AND WATER. The heating of “juice” kills any enzymes and nutrients that may have been in there.

Processed Foods Are Engineered For Over Consumption.

Processed Foods are Engineered for OVER CONSUMPTION. Evolution provided us with taste buds that are supposed to help us navigate the natural food environment. Our appetite gravitates towards foods that are sweet, salty, and fatty, because we know such foods contain energy and nutrients that we need for survival. Obviously, if a food manufacturer wants to succeed and get people to buy their product, it has to taste good. But today, the competition is fierce. There are many different food manufacturers, all competing with each other. For this reason, massive resources are spent on making foods as desirable as possible. Many processed foods have been engineered to be so incredibly “rewarding” to the brain, that they overpower anything we might have come across in nature.

ARTIFICIAL INGREDIENTS.

An ORIGINAL is always better than a copy. Wouldn’t you agree? If you look at the ingredients label for a processed, packaged food, chances are that you won’t have a clue what some of the ingredients are. That’s because many of the ingredients in there aren’t actual food… they are artificial chemicals that are added for various purposes. Keep in mind that processed foods can contain dozens of additional chemicals that aren’t even listed on the label. For example, “artificial flavor” is a proprietary blend. Manufacturers don’t have to disclose exactly what it means and it is usually a combination of chemicals.

YOU CAN BECOME ADDICTED TO JUNK FOOD.

The “hyper-rewarding” nature of processed foods can have serious consequences for some people. Some people can literally become addicted to this stuff and completely lose control over their consumption. Although food addiction is something that most people don’t know about, I am personally convinced that it is a huge problem in society today. It is the main reason why some people just can’t stop eating these foods, no matter how hard they try. They’ve had their brain biochemistry hijacked by the intense dopamine release that occurs in the brain when they eat these foods.

REFINED CARBS.

There is a lot of controversy regarding carbohydrates in the diet. Some people think that the majority of our energy intake should be from carbs, while others think they should be avoided like the plague. But one thing that almost everyone agrees on, is that carbohydrates from whole foods are much better than refined carbohydrates.Processed foods are often high in carbs, but it is usually the refined variety. One of the main problems is that refined, “simple” carbohydrates are quickly broken down in the digestive tract, leading to rapid spikes in blood sugar and insulin levels. This can lead to carb cravings a few hours later when blood sugar levels go down again. This phenomenon is also called the “blood sugar roller coaster,” which many people who have been on a high-carb diet can relate to.

NO NUTRIENTS, NO FIBER, & HIGH IN TRANS FATS.

I’m not sure about you but I’d like to feed my body to fuel it. Not to just exist. And get sicker and sicker. You NEED nutrients for your body to function correctly. You need fiber in your diet. You need good gut bacteria. Sorry for the long rant but this is something that is getting out of control in today’s society. Go back to evolution. Go back to how our ancestors lived. Stop the processed foods. And if you can’t stop completely, try limiting to once or twice a week.
